Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu was a great social worker and a compassionate person. From 1967 to 1975. Mr. Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu appointed himself as the Chairman of Haildhar Union Parishad. Even after the successful independence of Bangladesh, Mr. Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu was the Chairman of Haildhar Union Parishad and Chairman of Thana Parishad.

He was also a founding member of many schools and colleges in Battali Mohsen Aulia Degree College, Chandnaish Burma College, Enayet Bazar Mahila College, AJ Chowdhury Degree College, Raipur Coastal High School, Anwara Paschim Patiar and Chittagong.
